Jason Kulpa, Founder of The Kulpa Foundation, Supports San Diego Sports Medicine Foundation

Every year, for the past 18 years, San Diego Sports Medicine Foundation hosts its signature fundraising event Taste at the Cove. The event consists of a New York Style Runway Fashion Show, food from San Diego’s top-rated restaurants, a silent and live auction, as well as the presence of two local honorees. Past local attendees honored include LaDainian Tomlinson, Trevor Hoffman, and Tony Hawk.
Jason Kulpa, two-time winner of the Most Admired CEO Award of the San Diego Business Journal and also a semi-finalist for the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur award, has supported Taste at the Cove as well as San Diego Sports Medicine Foundation for many years. Kulpa recently sold the company he developed and operated, UE.co, and created The Kulpa Foundation, which supports special needs causes.
On top of his support for Taste at the Cove, Kulpa has been a crucial contributor to helping innovate other fundraising ideas. Kulpa carries a passion for conducting awareness, support, and inclusion for special needs sources. His mission aligns with that of the San Diego Sports Medicine Foundation.
The San Diego Sports Medicine Foundation, founded by Dr. David Chao, has put forth support for both healthy athletes and those with special needs in demand for medical care from injuries. They have supplied over $2 million in donations towards medical care and surgery for injured children in need. Chao is currently still the president of the organization.
The sports medicine foundation began in 2002 and was originally initiated to fill an at the time present health care gap for the younger generations of San Diego. There are many children in the San Diego area that undergo unexpected injuries from sports or the active lifestyle of the city. Sadly, many of these kids face a reality of lack of medical attention for their injuries due to no immediate health care options. The San Diego Sports Medicine Foundation is a firm believer that no child should be a victim of a lack of health care. Many shortages of health care cases are a result of a parent’s or parents’ low-wage job not qualify them for government assistance and the inability to afford appropriate health care.
“We believe all kids deserve the opportunity to participate in life, and we are dedicated to providing a medical safety net to injured youth who have no access to care,” said Chao.
The San Diego Sports Medicine Foundation has created strong partnerships that help them build a team of physicians that are of the highest caliber. These physicians consist of those who serve for the San Diego Chargers, ESPN X-Games, and USA National Rugby Team. Such a medical team meets the foundation’s standard to provide kids in need with the utmost quality care.
How many children are benefiting from this foundation’s non-reimbursed medical care? Thousands. From free MRIs to surgery, and postoperative care to bracing, the impact the San Diego Sports Medicine Foundation has on their community is massive and proudly supported by locals like Kulpa.
