What Is CBD Oil?

CBD oil can be described on packaging and labels as “phytocannabinoid-rich hemp oil”, “hemp CBD” or just plain “CBD”. It’s easy to see how it’s possible to become confused.
Isn’t Hemp Oil The Same As CBD Oil?
One of the greatest confusions surrounds another type of oil derived from the hemp plant. Hemp seed oil, often known as hemp oil, doesn’t contain any CBD. Instead, it’s similar to carrier oils like jojoba oil or sunflower seed oil. This cold-pressed extract comes from the seeds of the hemp plant, and the seeds don’t contain cannabinoids. Only the flowers and leaves of the hemp plant contain CBD. Therefore, if you use a hemp oil product, you won’t be able to experience any of the potential benefits of cannabidiol.
That isn’t to say that there are no health benefits at all associated with hemp seed oil, though. While it may contain no cannabinoids, it’s a superfood and can add nutritional value to your diet. It’s an excellent skin softener and moisturizer too and can work wonders as part of your skincare regime. On packaging and labels, it will be listed as Cannabis Sativa (hemp) seed oil, hemp oil, virgin hemp oil or hemp seed oil.
Avoiding A Mix-Up
Both hemp seed oil and CBD oil are wellness supplements, so you needn’t worry about causing yourself accidental harm if you use one rather than the other. However, if you’re keen to try out CBD oil to see if you can find relief from the conditions that you’re suffering from, you need to ensure that you don’t get mixed up and use hemp seed oil instead.
While both oils come from the same plant, this is where their similarities end. CBD and hemp seed oils have different benefits, different makeups and even come from different parts of the plant. It’s therefore important to read all the labels carefully before you buy. You should look out for a broad spectrum CBD product from a reliable company so you can be certain that you’re choosing an extract that you can trust.
