So, you’ve finally mustered up the courage to quit smoking. I know it may seem like it’s going to be impossible, but millions of people quit smoking each and every year. As a matter of fact, the amount of people who smoke in the United States of America right now is about 50% less than it was just 20 years ago. So people recognize the danger of cigarettes and they have had a much easier time stopping now than they ever have had in the past.

Stopping smoking does not need to be the end to your world. At the end of the day, it’s going to be the beginning of a brand-new life. You’re going to live a healthier, happier life and require less money for a nasty habit, so it’s an all-around good thing that you will be very happy about.

Steps to Take When Quitting Smoking Cold Turkey

Step #1: use nicotine replacement aids – this is an excellent first step to take when initially quitting smoking cold turkey. It allows you to give up the habit of smoking cigarettes without having to immediately withdraw from nicotine.

Some people feel that smoking aids are not the right way to go when stopping, but there are many other people that will certainly disagree because they have successfully used these quit smoking aids and gave up the habit for good. So find a quit smoking aid like a nicotine patch, nicotine gum, e-cigs or anything else that you feel might be beneficial to giving up the habit for good.

And then give it a try. Or try all of them to figure out which one works. Remember Rome wasn’t built in a day, and you shouldn’t give up if you do not quit smoking on your very first try.

Step #2: change your mindset about cigarettes – as a smoker, you have built up many ways of thinking that convince you that there’s nothing wrong with cigarettes. In fact, you have probably convinced yourself that cigarettes are a good thing.

You need to change your mindset about this. You need to realize that cigarettes are deadly. You need to realize that they are doing you serious harm and you’re spending a lot of money to kill yourself.

And you also need to realize that you absolutely hate cigarettes because of all of the negative things that they have done to you. If you can develop a real hatred for cigarettes, you will eventually get so disgusted with yourself that you will become compelled to quit. Believe me it works even if it sounds crazy right now. Try to convince yourself that you hate cigarettes and you will be able to eventually kick this nasty habit.

That’s all we really need to share with you today. I’d love to tell you that this is a huge multi step process, but you only really need to do these two things. The third thing might be to stop putting cigarettes in your mouth and lighting them. Follow this path and you’ll quit smoking in no time.
