This is a question I get asked frequently, and have done some research into how long the THC from marijuana stays in your hair.

Typically this is from people who are looking to pass a hair test by an employer.

Well, let me get right to the point, as there are many different answers to this floating around the internet on various websites. If you have a hair test coming up, and you are researching in hopes of Father Time working in your favor, you’re basically screwed.

I have some good news, and some bad news for you.
First the bad news:

Weed can remain in your hair for months, if not years.

Now, the earliest detection is 7-10 days after use, which is usually a mute point for anyone looking up this information, and if this was your first time smoking cannabis, and have a test coming up immediately, you may want to rush in there before 7 days have passed and cross your fingers, yet there is always a chance that second hand smoke got in your hair. They do say that it will not be detectable, but then again, not everyone wants to leave something like this to chance.

So What Do You Do If You Think You Have THC In Your Hair?

Here is the good news:Aloe Rid

There are solutions for getting weed out of your system, including your hair:

Marijuana Detox Shampoo

Nexxus Aloe Rid shampoo is a solution many have used, including myself, with success in passing a hair follicle test to remove traces of marijuana.

If you decide to make this investment, be sure to read the instructions carefully, follow them to the letter, and you may additionally want to use a full body detox product.

Aloe Rid is the most popular product available for this that I know of, and I purchase it at TestClear, for theirs is the original product you want for this type of situation.

Full Body Detox Product

Toxin Rid 10 Day Cleanse is the next product on the list for anyone looking to cleanse their whole system to be ultra safe with an upcoming test.

This is pretty self explanatory by the name of it, and offers nice peace of mind if you are uncertain what type of test you may be looking at in the future.

Once again, be sure to follow this exactly as directed.

Here are some frequently asked questions about marijuana staying in your hair.

Does Testing for Marijuana in Your Hair Vary Depending on Labs?

Yes, you better believe it!  The procedures vary between Quest Diagnostics, Omega Labs, and Psychemedics, which are all common labs.  There are many variables here.

  • For one, Quest Diagnostics uses EIA testing, and most people agree it is not as accurate as other tests.
  • Next, Psychemedics uses ELISA tests.  This test will isolate the drug metabolites which renders it much more accurate.

There are other labs that use even LESS accurate tests.  In short, your chances at success can start with the lab that does your testing and the methodologies they use.

Can Drug Tests Record Differently for People who Consumed the Same Weed?

It’s a little known fact that the following factors have zero bearing on if you pass a hair test:

  1. Age
  2. Weight
  3. Height

No matter if you are a big time user or barely consume the THC, you stand the same chances as others.  BUT, your hair type and metabolism will come into play.

If you have thicker hair, as well as darker hair, you will stand a lesser of a chance to pass a test.

This really helped me. Thank you Jason. As a recreational user, I had to really be careful after losing my job (company moved, not anything bad by me) and was on the hunt for a new one. I didn’t want to give up cannabis but also needed to pass a test. The Old Style shampoo worked! I appreciate the recommendation, you really saved my ass.

+1, thanks a lot, Jason. This is literally the only product that’s ever worked every time I have used it. Old Style Aloe Shampoo for the win!
