deCODE genetics
10/29/07
deCODE genetics, a global leader in gene discovery, is bringing to market a growing number of DNA tests the company has linked to increased risk of developing common diseases. deCODE believes that such tests provide a novel means to better understand individual risk of developing diseases such as type 2 diabetes, stroke and heart attack. A better and more personalized understanding of risk may therefore empower individuals and their physicians to implement more rigorous and potentially more effective prevention or treatment strategies. Preventing disease occurrence or simply knowing the predisposition, could lead to better patient outcomes and lower overall healthcare costs.
Eli Lilly and Company

To assist physicians and other clinicians involved in the care of schizophrenic patients, the Missouri Department of Mental Health (DMH) and the Missouri Division of Medical Services (DMS) partnered with Comprehensive Neuroscience Inc. and Eli Lilly and Company to implement a statewide project called Medical Risk Management (MRM) for Missouri Medicaid recipients with a diagnosis of schizophrenia. This program is a strategy for adapting disease management to behavioral health in Missouri.
Eli Lilly and Company - Behavioral Pharmacy Management

As an alternative to preferred drug lists, fail first approaches, case management or prior authorizations for psychiatric medications, the Behavioral Pharmacy Management (BPM) intervention was designed and implemented in the State of Missouri in partnership with Comprehensive Neuroscience Inc. and Eli Lilly and Company, as a quality improvement tool that also produces cost savings by aligning outlier physician prescribing practices with best practices.

State of Wisconsin: MEDDIC-MS and MEDDIC-MS SSI Medicaid Managed Care Performance Measures
9/21/2007
The Institute of Medicine has found that one of the most confounding problems with healthcare quality improvement is the need for accurate, automated, cost-effective quality performance measurement. This need is particularly acute in large, publicly funded programs such as Medicaid, which deliver healthcare services using a managed care delivery system. Wisconsin's MEDDIC-MS and MEDDIC-MS SSI automated performance measure systems have successfully addressed this problem.
