NCQA Physician Recognition Program

Date:  April 27, 2007

Location:  Columbus, GA

NCQA Physician Recognition Program To prevent the devastating complications of diabetes, NCQA encourages the provision of comprehensive, quality health care to people with diabetes through the Diabetes Physician Recognition Program (DPRP). DPRP, developed by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) and the American Diabetes Association (ADA), awards recognition to physicians who demonstrate that they provide high quality care to patients with diabetes.

Through the work of the Center’s Healthy Georgia Diabetes and Obesity Project the number of Georgia physicians recognized by NCQA for quality diabetes care has significantly increased. Novo Nordisk is providing support for a program to assist physicians in the recognition process. This program is led by Jonathan Marquess, Pharm D. CDE, CDM. If you are interested in information on the diabetes physician recognition program visit the NCQA website or contact Jonathan Marquess at The Institute for Wellness & Education at 678-285-0760.

Major DPRP certification initiatives are in progress throughout the state of Georgia. One of the most successful initiatives is the WellStar Health System where more than 60 physicians have attained NCQA diabetes recognition.
