Your Opinions: Where the Health Are We?

August 29, 2009

There is no question that "health care coverage" in the U.S.A. needs an overhaul. Unfortunately, instead of trying to find meaningful solutions, there are elements of the radical right and big insurance companies that are spreading misinformation and scare tactics in an effort to keep the status quo.

Remember this, every member of Congress is set for life. They have no worry about health care coverage or retirement. There are those who are lining their pockets with insurance lobbyists' money that are drastically opposed to any change, especially a "public option" which is a key element and a necessary part to making health care reform work.

The cost of health care reform will, no doubt, be enormous. The cost of not having health care reform will be astronomical. The Republicans would like nothing better that to defeat a health care bill to weaken the Obama administration and regain seats in the House and Senate in the midterm elections. Politics has no place in this debate. The debate is what's right and what's wrong. What's good for the American people. In Matthew 25:31-46 it says, Inasmuch as you have done it (or not done it) to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you have done it (or not done it) to me.

I hope all intelligent, thoughtful Americans won't be swayed by lies of government takeover, euthanasia and whatever other falsehoods the opponents of health care reform are putting out there.

When people like Rush Limbaugh, Sarah Palin and Newt Gingrich are opposed to "health care reform," you can bet it's a good thing. Just remember, it's not a Democrat or Republican problem. It is an American problem and the time for a solution is now.
