David Merritt Participates in “Life After SiCKO: Implications of Michael Moore’s Film for the Pharmaceutical Industry and the US Healthcare System,” hosted by the Healthcare Marketing & Communications Council

Date: November 14, 2007

Location: New York, NY

Center Director David Merritt participated in the panelist discussion, “Life After SiCKO: Implications of Michael Moore’s Film for the Pharmaceutical Industry and the US Healthcare System,” hosted by The Healthcare Marketing & Communications Council.

Merritt discussed the Center’s bipartisan effort in reforming healthcare, particularly its work with Sen. Hillary Clinton in defining the US healthcare problem. Although the solutions might be different, the problem, the scope and issues to be attacked, are issues this unlikely pair are in large agreement on.

But as Merritt noted, policymakers are far ahead of the moviemakers.

“It is one thing to say healthcare needs to be reformed,” noted Merritt, “and another to put some things on the table that are useful and work on them.”
