Date: June 9, 2008

Location: Baltimore, MD

Project director David Merritt will serve as a panelist speaker for the "Consumer Caregiver Personal Health Technologies Panel," a part of the annual Long Term Care (LTC) Health Information Technology Summit. The Summit was established in August of 2005 in response to Presdient Bush's 2004 Executive Order to implement health inormation technology in 10 years. As an informal group, the Summit developed an LTC HIT roadmap providing stakeholders with guidance on how to implement HIT and research results and case studies. This year's 2008 panel will focus on the importance of the Caregiver as a player in HIT connectivity.

The spectrum of long term care includes: skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, home care, independent care, physician care, consultant pharmacy care, hospital care, rehabilitation and hospice.
