Project Director David Merritt Testifies on "Health IT: Protecting Americans' Privacy in the Digital Age"

WASHINGTON (Tuesday, Jan. 27) —Project Director David Merritt testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee, chaired by Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), to examine how to best implement privacy protections in electronic health information systems.  Merritt joined James Hester, the Director of the Vermont Health Care Reform Commission, on the witness panel for Tuesday’s hearing on “Health IT: Protecting Americans’ Privacy in the Digital Age.”

Other panelists included Adrienne Hahn, Senior Attorney and Program Manager for Health Policy, Consumers Union; Deven McGraw, the Director of the Health Privacy Project for the Center for Democracy and Technology; Michael Stokes, the Principal Lead Program Manager, HealthVault, Microsoft Corporation; and John Houston, the Vice President of Information Security and Privacy for the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
