David Merritt participates in Allscripts Webinar, “The Medicare Bill Now Becomes Law – Next Steps and Roadmap”

Project Director David Merritt participated in the Allscripts webinar, “The Medicare Bill Now Becomes Law –Next Steps and Roadmap,” which examined Congress’s recent legislation, law HR 6331, the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act of 2008.  Though there were a number of elements included in the bill (i.e. physician payment for Medicare patients), one of the bill’s major achievements included incentives to physicians who electronically prescribe.  Allscripts hosted this webinar to address this truly historic development for healthcare as it represents the first move by the federal government to leverage their role in the marketplace, to help drive the use of information technology and to improve outcomes at a lower cost for all Americans.
