CHT 1st Quarter Member Meeting

On Wednesday, March 9, 2005 CHT hosted their first member meeting of the year. The event took place at the Willard InterContinental Hotel in Washington, DC. The day featured a variety of speakers on several key issues within the health policy sector. Nancy Desmond, CEO and Melissa Ferguson, VP of Operations kicked the day off with an update to the members. CHT Founder, Newt Gingrich delivered opening remarks as he gave insight into the pulse of the health debate.

As the day progressed with a panel on Diabetes in America, members were updated on the Diabetes Care Coalition’s advertisements taking place in Georgia to heighten awareness of the severity of diabetes if left undetected or untreated. Diabetes Care Coalition (DCC) panelists included; Mike Mawby (Novo Nordisk) Tom Boyer (DCC) and Jerry Franz (Porter Novelli). Mike Raymer, Senior VP of IDX System Corporation introduced the Nebraska Health Initiative as an innovative state making waves and improvements in health. Featured speakers included; Admiral Bob Bell, Assistant to the Chancellor for Community, Strategic Planning and Stature for the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha; Dr.James Canedy, President/Founder, SimplyWell; Dr. Harris Frankel, Board of SimplyWell, LLC and active participant in Nebraska Biomedical Project

Breakout sessions concluded the day’s event, as members could attend a break out session on Health Information Technology, Intellectual Property or Medicaid Transformation: The Rising Cost of Drugs and a “Travelocity-Like” Solution.
